Progress

The dolls house is coming along nicely now. I made little window boxes out of Balsa wood, painted a wood grain effect with water colours, and used some clear varnish to seal them. I think the little panel pins as 'nails' make the perfect finishing touch. A marathon cereal box cutting session made enough roof tiles to cover quite a bit of roof, and we're just waiting for the dormer windows to arrive before finishing the front roof.

Then, if I can just figure out how to hang the front properly without it sagging and scraping along the bottom, we'll be ready to slowly tackle the interior!

Oh, and just a couple to show little Toby's favourite spot when all my attention is focused on the house!

Dolls House

Ever since I first saw a Doll's House as a kid (it was my friend Jo's) I have wanted one. No, that's too mild a word...I have coveted one! So, can you imagine my delight when my friend offered me/my daughter theirs, as she was making room for the new baby and didn't have space for it?!
I have been saying that come summer we will get it out in the garden and strip it down to be able to re-vamp it. Well, we are making progress! I have stumbled across the Dolls House Emporium
and I can't believe this world exists! You must see the insane detail that goes into some of these houses, not to mention the expense! At least, this house is going to be a play house, my daughter has some Sylvanian Families and we will get a few more furniture sets for the house...so if anyone wants ideas for her birthday...look here!

Unfortunately in my haste to get started I didn't think of the 'before' pictures, so this is the only shot I have.
We're going for a French Mediterranean look, kind of like the house in the Magic Roundabout.
These roof tiles are made from cereal boxes. The very clever ladies on DHE told me how to make those!

Almost ready to move out...

You know how people say you should let sleeping dogs (or cats) lie? Well, when I came across Tigger, Tilly and Toby sleeping in a row like this, I thought it made a really sweet picture, but I thought that Stripy deserved to be in it. So, after snapping this shot, Toby rolled over, making a perfect space for Stripy...Which I then transferred him into...

Only to have him wake Toby up first, and in the next moment he grabbed Tilly by the head and started kicking and scratching her. Poor thing, what a rude awakening!

Anyway, they are now six weeks old, and in a week or two we'll be saying goodbye to three of them. I am not looking forward to that moment, I knew it was coming but now that it's so close and they are sooo cute, it's going to break my heart.
We didn't weigh them last week, but I just popped them on the scale to check how much their yummy kitten food is making them grow. I thought my scale was broken when I put Toby on. I had to take him off and put him back on to see if it still read the same...

Tilly: 730g
Tigger: 800g
Stripy: 830g
Toby: 930g!!!

Aren't these the prettiest camera straps?

So, I have been looking on Etsy for some pretty camera straps. My search has ended. Check out Cotton Candy by Natalie I love the Vera Bradley Java Blue...I think it would be so comfortable, and the great thing is you can have a longer length one made - if you're anything like me you find the standard straps just a tad too short. She's having a competition to win one, so go on, check out her blog too... here!

Trying to upload a video...

Well, I've been playing with the camera, Blogger and iMovie...did it work? The song is Sleep with Tigers by Arno Carstens, and unfortunately the video clip wasn't as long as the song, so there's a few minutes of black. But at least you get to hear the whole song! And you get to see how cute the kittens are...
