Club Little House

Have you heard about Club Little House? Well, I stumbled upon an amazing world of creativity, sharing, and friendship, and SWAPPNG!
I found the blog Posie Gets Cozy. From there I spent ages looking through her Flickr photostream, where I saw the sweetest little welsh dressers for a doll's house (which you all know is my new favourite hobby!) that she made for something called "Club Little House". So I Googled it.

And lo and behold, my timing was impeccable as the founder and organiser, Amy, was about to announce the sign ups for the next round of Club Little House swaps!

I racked my brain for something original and creative to make, and submitted my idea to be considered for the juried group. I was quite pleased with my idea, and very pleased to hear from Amy that she loved it too, and that I was "In!"

I have to make twelve identical little things for a doll's house, at 1:12 scale, post them off to Amy, who will them make up parcels of twelve unique and different items from each member, and post them back to us!

I am dying to share my idea on here, I started making them today, but I don't want to ruin the surprise for CLH members so I'm going to have to wait! All I can say is that I am very glad super glue sticks bass wood together -I'd be completely 'stuck' if it didn't!

The Lookout!

Just when we were thinking Summer's over and the chill bite of Autumn is making us think of warm stews and soups for dinner, we go and have a weekend like this one. Glorious sunshine, everyone back outdoors playing, and the opportunity to discover a new super-kid-friendly fun place to go.

The LookOut. Great cycle trails, play area with an awesome fort, spinning chairs and great balancing beams, as well as an indoor hands-on science and discovery center. We skipped that though, in favour of building our own teepee in the forest! Huge piles of perfect length logs, enough foliage and trees to build around, and the best fun we've had in ages. The kids were hauling tree branches three times their lenth around, exploring each other's teepees (and raiding them as soon as they were abandoned for more logs!) We started small and ended with this fabulous tree hut. The kids picnic'ed and we took a pic with the camera phone (isn't it great you can do that now, when you've forgotten to bring a proper camera?)

My husband was very pleased to note that long after we'd abandoned our hut, it still stood proud. Under new ownership, it was deemed good enough to play in, rather than demolish!

The Cottontails have moved in!

Well, the Cottontail family decided that they can't wait any longer, they wanted to move into their new home as soon as possible. So, although it means living with the smell of paint and and no kitchen, they're in!
Mr and Mrs Cottontail will be camping in the nursery until their new bedroom furniture arrives. At least the twins are settled in.

Mrs Chantilly from next door popped in with a lovely tea cake, and welcomed Mrs Cottontail to the neighbourhood.

Mr Cottontail loves being able to soak in the tub, and thinks this may be his favourite room in the house!

Mr Bullrush is only taking the measurements for the kitchen this week, so it looks like dinners will be take-aways until further notice!

Luckily the weather is still mild as the new door hasn't been fitted yet. At least the pathway is done, and Mr Cottontail is quite proud of his handy work.

Hee hee hee... can you tell how much FUN I've had? I think it all looks so sweet, and the best thing was seeing the kids sitting side by side for ages over the weekend, playing TOGETHER!!

I love making cakes!

Anyone want a cake made? I love doing cake decorating, I must say my friend Heather got me hooked on using regalice (fondant) and it is so easy to do. My kids' birthday cakes are getting quite impressive if I do say so myself! The next one is coming up in November...all I can say is ... cupcakes!
This is the cake I made for a friend's son's Christening, she doesn't know what I am making so I can't wait to see her reaction tomorrow.

Back to School!

Hoorah! So it was back to school today for my daughter, she was really looking forward to it and couldn't wait to see all her friends again. She was a bit worried that they might have changed over the holiday and she wouldn't recognise them, but I assured her they might just be a little taller than when she last saw them. Her new teacher is lovely, I have heard fantastic things about her, so I'm sure the new school year is going to be a great one. Now, roll on Monday so the little guy can get back to preschool!

A combination post - Kitten update and doll house update!

So Rosie and Toby have settled very well into life without Tigger, Tilly and (Stripy)Ashley. We visited Grandpa on the weekend and saw how Ashley is being spoiled rotten, he's certainly landed with his bum in the butter! He's grown a lot, but we think he's the same size as Toby. The other evening, I came into the lounge to find two pairs of eyes looking out from the doll's house - and it wasn't the dolls... Funny cats! Rosie has always loved sleeping in the house, and it looks like it might become one of Toby's favourite spots too. Rosie isn't asold and gray as she appears - I had to lighten the area in order to see her and it's made her fur a bit too light.
